The huge sculpture of the superhero created by artist Zincart, started in July 2021, still requires two years of work. A duration that the sculptor had not anticipated, having planned enough funding to last two years in total. In order to help Zincart complete its beautiful artistic project, we have launched an online funding pool with his agreement.
On July 24, 2021, after 3 months of drawings and studying the armor, Zincart began the skeleton of his superhero. A huge sculpture of the famous Iron Man that the artist shapes out of sight in the gardens of the Hôtel Hommage on the island of Saint-Martin.
Zincart had planned to last two years between food and other daily expenses, the supplies being financed by his patron for the creation of the work. While he thought these two years were more than enough to complete his creation, the Iron Man gave him and still giving him a hard time. The artist did about half of the work, including the creation of the wooden structure, the passage of the sheaths for the robotics and electricity, and the installation of the copper and brass parts.
Iron Man measures 3.60m in height (5.10m if he were standing) and will weigh approximately 2 tonnes. Its steel base weighing 1.5 tonnes, 0.35m high and 0.50m wide represents the A of the Avengers. Inside will be installed two controlled mechanical ventilations, a CO2 box for the propulsion effects and the robotic and electrical equipment.
The head will be robotic and will share some mythical lines from the character such as “I am Iron Man”, and this in any language depending on the linguistic reaction of visitors. Different lighting points identical to the famous armor will also be installed as well as CO2 jets for propulsion effects.
Completion of this work should take another two years and Zincart needs a helping hand to achieve this, as departmental aid is long and complicated to obtain.
The artist cannot resign himself to letting go of Iron Man and returning to his job as a roofer and zinc worker to put two years of additional work into the piggy bank. Because that would mean leaving his creation for at least two years.
Today we carry the voice of Zincart, too humble to launch a fundraiser in his name but who understood that it was perhaps the only solution to achieve his dream.
