The Parisian DJ and producer Ramyen is exporting his concept of Mellow electro evenings to Saint-Martin. He is telling us about this new festival that will take place from December 29th to January 3rd.
What is the Mellow concept and how was it born?
“We wanted to create an ephemeral brand for our weekly residency at Pablo in Saint-Tropez. We wanted something very happy and colorful, and in the end, it became our emblem. The Mellow concept is a bit of a state of mind, the English word «mellow» says it all. It means being colorful, being loving, taking things lightly, being wild with joy. In fact, between the hippie side of the slogan «Be Mellow», the very childish decor full of life and the sharp music we are trying to offer, it’s the perfect mix to represent my vision of how to party.”
Why did you choose Saint-Martin?
“I grew up on the islands and came here dozens of times. But last year was the trigger with the event we did with our other brand Casa Luna at Coco Beach New Year’s Eve. It was fabulous and the more time I spent on the island the more I thought we could do even more next year. And of course, with the enthusiasm of my friends and partners Antoine and Vincent, here we are now with Mellow Island on this little piece of paradise.”
What can we expect?
“There will be 5 events in 3 different locations. Three at Coco Beach, one at Rainbow Café and a festive lunch at Java. Each time we will take the Mellow codes, with our own scenography, sound control, line up and everything that goes with it. DJs are artists for whom I have a lot of admiration. There will be all styles of house music, it will be really open.”
Will Mellow Island be held annually in Saint-Martin?
“Let me finish this one already and we’ll talk about it on January 4th, 2024 (laughs)!”
