The White Rabbit, new underground club

On September 10th, the White Rabbit underground club is organizing one last night before temporary closing for renovation. A good opportunity to find out about this new partying place that wants to help the development of electronic music on the island.

Opened for several month as a piano bar, the White Rabbit has recently changed its purpose. In the heart of the Maho District, where you can go out to party and have fun, it now welcomes fans of electronic music who are willing to extend their evening. “It is the only place on the island open after 3 a.m. on weekends.”, Jameson notices, he is one of the resident DJs in charge of event planning. Together with Nicolas Barcel, Cal Um and Moses Daniel, they were given the task of developing the first St Martin underground club taking care of programming, communication, bartending and security. Between clubs and festivals, “the electronic music culture has truly evolved in recent years on the island”, Moses Daniel points out. “And we are actively trying to continue developing it”.

After the electro day on a catamaran, the founders of the Sunset Society have thus created a new concept: The Night Shift. As the name suggests, the four DJs take turns at the turntables three nights a week from 11 pm to 5 am. Every week, they invite different DJs to join them. The idea: concentrate in one place the afterparties and allow artists to express themselves in house, tech house, techno and minimal register. “We are trying to be creative, to bring something different every time”, Cal Um points out.

Despite the difficulty of starting from scratch in a place that already had an identity, the beginnings were “very satisfactory”, the Night Shift organizers say. “We are building something, a community, little by little”, Nicolas Barcel is happy to say. The club will be closed for renovation for one month to reopen in October, "improved and open more often”. For the final party that will take place on Saturday September 10th, 10 DJS will be there: Owlïsh, Allan P, Moses Daniel, Peter Sweet, KidzMan, Cal Um, Nicolas Barcel, BLS, Raphaël Novella and Jameson.
