Lately the Comptoir des Fromages store offers « Cheese & wine » workshops to find out about the history of this typically French tasteful food item around wine and cheese tasting. We have tried it out.

French people and cheese is such a great love story. Since he has opened his shop in Marigot, Géraud Vallet has been eager to share his passion for this full of history food item from the terroir. It’s indeed where the “Cheese and Wine” workshop starts. First of all you find out about all the little secrets of its making and its history. The explanations are full of anecdotes that may come as a surprise to some people. After having presented all the different cheese families, Géraud offers you to taste about ten types of artisanal cheese made from cow, goat and sheep milk. You learn to pay attention to their shape, their external aspect, their consistency, then to cut them, to smell them and to characterize their flavors. And all of this is accompanied by white and red wines to bring out the best aromas. From the softest one on the palate, you go up gradually to end up with cheeses that are brimming with character, not for the faint-hearted, but great to make cheese lovers exult. A culinary delight and a cultural discovery that combine perfectly in this foodie and friendly workshop, to treat someone or to treat yourself.
